Bolzano delegation calls on President:
Considers hotel school investment in Hambantota
President Mahinda Rajapaksa welcomed a delegation headed by the
President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Dr Luis Durnwalder at
Temple Trees on Wednesday.
President Durnwalder and the delegation from the Province on a
week-long visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of Speaker Chamal
Rajapaksa, are looking for more investment opportunities.
Bolzano funds two projects in Sri Lanka - a tsunami housing scheme in
Panadura and a development project at Meegaswewa in Medirigiriya.
The Bolzano delegation is considering investing in another project to
build a hotel school in Hambantota, and has inspected three potential
sites for the project.
The delegation has traveled to various parts of the island, including
Panadura, Hambantota and Polonnaruwa.
They have visited the Hambantota harbor and Carrier Service Center,
the Mattala airport and the Export Production Village at Tissamaharama
while on their tour.
The Bolzano delegation has called on Economic Development Minister
Basil Rajapaksa and attended a dinner hosted by Speaker Rajapaksa.
Other members of the delegation from the Province of Bolzano included
the Dr. Thomas Widmann, Minister of the Provincial Government of Skilled
Crafts, Industry, Trade, Mobility and Provincial Personnel, Dr. Brigitte
Gasser, Director of the Emma Hellenstainer Provincial Vocational School
for Catering and Nutritional Professions and Dr. Rudi Dalvai, President
of the World Fair Trade Organization.
