IRAN: Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Yu Hongyang on Sunday
reaffirmed his government’s support for Iranian nuclear programme. He
told Governor General of Golestan Province Javad Ghanaat that the
Chinese government has always been clear and transparent about Iranian
nuclear programme supporting Iranian legitimate right enshrined by
Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The ambassador said that Chinese government has been insisting on
settlement of the nuclear issue through dialogue.
He added that China attaches special importance to all-out expansion
of relations with Iran.
“That’s our constant policy, because China shares common stance with
the Islamic Republic of Iran on international issues,” the ambassador
said.
Yu said 70 Chinese companies are active in Iran. The Chinese
ambassador said that the Chinese companies are willing to implement
infrastructural projects in Golestan Province and that they would work
out such projects as soon as possible.
He said that his country would do its best to facilitate visa
issuance for traders of Golestan Province. Governor General of Golestan
Province said for his part that the Islamic Republic of Iran share
common views with China on global issues including the principle of
independence and the need for the governing system to enjoy popularity.
Despite other countries’ cooperation with the Iraqi Baathist regime,
China supported Iran during the Baathist regime’s invasion of Iran in
1980-1988.
