Canada offers 18,700 dollars as flood relief

The Canadian government will provide $ 18, 700 in disaster relief for
families affected by floods in two districts in the country.
“The Canadian government is pleased to be able to support Sri Lanka’s
disaster relief efforts.
These relief items will help families as they try to rebuild their
families, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason
Kenney said. Addressing a press conference at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel
in Colombo, he said these funds will be provided to Caritas Sri Lanka -
Social and Economic Development Center.
He said Caritas will provide funds for immediate humanitarian
assistance for people displaced in Mannar and Anuradhapura districts.
These two Districts were selected from among the most hard hit by the
floods. People who lost their belongings will be provided relief items
such as blankets, bed sheets, towels, soap and drinking water, he said.
Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney met
with Caritas National Director Fr. George Signamoney and advised him of
Canada’s contribution to relief support.
