‘TNA should come to the proper forum’

The TNA should stop seeking assistance from outside to find a
political solution to their issues and instead attend the Parliamentary
Select Committee set up for that purpose, Irrigation and Water Resources
Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said yesterday.
He said it was no use going around the world and complaining against
the government without attending the PSC to find a practical solution to
the issue.
He added that the government has already taken measures to arrive at
a solution and the only delay is their (TNA's) participation.
Until they do so there is no possibility of commencing discussions.
The minister said the TNA has no genuine need to find a solution to
the problem and want it to remain like a beggar's wound. “They go to the
USA, UK and France to discuss this matter but not to the proper forum .
He also added that unlike past governments the government under the
leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken initiatives to find
a lasting solution to the ethnic question. |
