Baseball coaching camp in Diyagama

A basic baseball coaching camp for school players was held recently
marking the inauguration of the first Baseball Court in South Asia at
the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa International Sports Complex.
Prior to that, three matches were played at the same venue. The first
match was played between Sri Lanka Youth Baseball Team and Kanagawa High
School Academy Team from Japan.
Kanagawa team emerged winners beating Sri Lanka by 3 - 0.
In the match between Sri Lanka Baseball Chairman's Team and Kanagawa
team, Kanagawa recorded their second successive win by 11- 4. The Sri
Lanka under 19 Baseball Champions Nalanda College Colombo had to suffer
a moral shattering defeat at the hands of Kanagawa team (1- 28).
The baseball workshop was held on December 25 with the participance
of the international representative in Japan and Rules and Regulations
Implementing Committee president Kogiyaso and Sujeewa Wijenayake, the
only international referee in Sri Lanka.
The participants were given valuable certificate and baseball
equipments were donated to the national team and the players in the
under-18 team.
Sri Lanka Baseball Federation Chairman Dinesh Perera mentioned that
the workshops are to be held on Galle and Kandy in future. |
