A passenger bound to Kiran from
Valaichchenai fell asleep and lost an envelope containing Rs
19,000. S Premnath, another passenger, who picked the
envelope handed it over to Eravur Police after informing the
bus crew. Satkunam Nilani inquired from the bus crew and
collected the money from the Eravur Police Station. Here,

A 29-year-old mother of Dambugala,
Medawachchiya who conceived twin foetuses, gave birth to one
baby inspite of the abortion of the other foetus, in a rare
caesarean operation conducted by consultant obstetrician and
gynaechologist Dr Asela Amarasiri at the Anuradhapura
Teaching Hospital recently.Dr Amarasiri said both the mother
and the new born are doing well at the hospital.He said
normally when one child (foetus) belonging to twins dies in
the uterus, the other child would either die or be born
concurrently. The operation was performed during the 24th
week of the pregnancy when one foetus got aborted to save
