Take to plastic, Rajitha tells fish sellers

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha
Senaratne instructed businessmen involved in selling fish at the
Peliyagoda Fish Trade Centre to use plastic boxes to pack fish and not
use wooden slabs to cut fish.
Minister Senaratne on an inspection tour of the Peliyagoda fish
market recently, said he would give fish sellers seven days to to remove
the wooden items in their stalls.
The minister also requested for stall licenses of fish stall owners.
He banned the sale of fish in lorries at the market premises and taking
ice out of the premises.
He told the authorities at the Peliyagoda Fish Trade Centre to
implement the rules and regulations properly and keep the fish market
premises clean. |
