Anil Moonesinghe, a devoted politician - Speaker

Former Deputy Speaker Anil Moonesinghe devoted his entire life for
the country's well-being. The Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) was a
flourishing institute during his era. He rendered a yeoman service to
uplift the CTB, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said.

He was speaking at a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a new
building for an elders home in Matugama last week.
The new building costing Rs seven million will be constructed in
memory of Anil Moonesinghe.
The expenditure will be borne by his wife and his children.
Speaker Rajapaksa said: “We are living in an era where children are
dumped on the roadside and the young neglect their parents and elders.
"Mrs Moonesinghe and her children have done an exemplary deed by
making arrangements to construct a building for an elders home in
Matugama which is an urgent need. It is difficult to find politicians of
the calibre of Anil Moonesinghe.”
Transport Minister Kumara Welgama, Deputy Highways Minister Nirmala
Kotalawala and Western Provincial Councilors Chandrabanu Adikaram and
Keerthi Kariyawasam also participated. Anil Moonesinghe's son, Praveen
delivered the vote of thanks |
