St.John’s Nugegoda OBA (Australia Branch) boost for under 19 cricket
team

Old Boys of St. John’s College, Nugegoda, formed a branch of the OBA
in Australia recently. The Association is headed by Bertie Ekenaike,
former cricketer of St. John’s College, Nugegoda. This year the school’s
Under 19 cricket team will be fully sponsored by the OBA Australian
Branch..

Ekenaike who has spent his personal funds each year to develop sport
particularly Cricket in our College last six years. Each year he has
spent Rs. 500000/- ( Five Hundred Thousand) for this purpose.
This is the first time the OBA of St. John’s College, Nugegoda branch
in Australia has donated Rs.. 7,00000/- ( Seven Hundred Thousand Only
)money to the college.
. Bertie Ekenaike live wire behind the success of the St. John’s
College, Nugegoda Under 19 cricket visited Sri Lanka recently and
participated in the Annual Dinner Dance which was organized by the OBA
St. John’s College, Nugegoda . It was held on 06th October 2012 at
Waters Edge , Battaramulla. The photograph shows Mr. Chandana Perera,
OBA , President handing over appreciation award to Mr. Bertie Ekenaike
Major D A D Wanaguru the Principal, of St John’s College, Nugegoda
too was felicitated on this occasion .
