First spice clinic held in Matugama

The first spice clinic, a novel concept of Minor Crops Minister Reginald Cooray was held at the Matugama auditorium recently.

A large number participated. They were briefed on different areas of subjects related to minor crops by officials.

Minister Cooray said people must increase the quantity of quality minor crops for the export market. He suggested to grow arecanut trees by the road side in rural villages. The minister said: "We hope to facilitate cinnamon peeling with modern machines in the Kalutara district."

Western Provincial Councilors Chandrabanu Adikaram and Wickum Gunesekera and Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha chairman L G Liyanaarachchi also participated.
