Outsider creates Bar Assn rumpus

The tense situation at Hulftsdorp Court complex during the Sri Lanka Bar Association (BASL) meeting on Saturday was due to the interference of an outsider at the proceedings, attorney at law Sugath Handunge said.

The intruder was identified as a junior working under a senior lawyer, Handunge said.

“The lawyers present at the meeting were divided into two groups. However, the tension rose when this person purposely interrupted the proceedings. He might have interrupted the proceedings on the instigation of someone,” he said.

“His plans failed and we objected to his presence,” Handunge said.

This person also attended the meeting with the intention of getting media publicity, he said.
