Nepal is one of the most visited countries in Asia, due to the variety of unforgettable experiences a tourist would encounter when visiting this country of love and peace since time immemorial, said Rabin Sharma, Managing Director of Splendid Holiday Tours and Travels Pvt Ltd, Nepal, who will be in Sri Lanka to promote the tourist potential of Nepal.

“Describing Nepal’s value as a religious destination, he says Buddhists will be able to worship sites where Gautam Buddha was born, travelled and preached. Although Nepal has been a Hindu country for over hundreds of years,” Sharma says that Buddhism had a great influence in the lives of the Nepalese people.

He further said that travelling in Nepal was one of those grand experiences that tourists would love and also would like to remember until their death. Delimited by the lofty Himalayas, wooded forests, unspoiled natural backdrops, cool and charming ambiance, alpine villages, swift flowing rivers and thetempting scenic locations, Nepal has an awesome collection of interesting tourist sites, he said.

If tourists were interested in mountain climbing, Nepal is home to 8 out of 10 highest mountains in the world.. Describing Nepal as a paradise for mountain climbers and adventure seekers, Sharma further said that Nepal offers a special charm that entices hundreds of thousands of tourists from across the world.

He further said that Nepal was rich in flora and fauna and had several exotic wild life parks and sanctuaries as well as national parks that were ideal for wildlife safaris and jungle trekking. The places named by the UNESCO as World Heritage sites add another valuable attraction to Nepal’s tourism, making it an internationally renowned tourist destination.

Sharma who is collaborating with Vista Associates of Sri Lanka in promoting the tourist potential in both countries, said Nepal shared several common entities with Sri Lanka. For instance, he says Buddhism had become the chosen philosophy of Sri Lanka as well as Nepal. He also adds that his country had a strong bond with Sri Lanka and her people.

Going into details of various attractions in Nepal, Sharma says Kathmandu, the capital city was home to some alluring tourist attractions that include the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Jagannath Temple, Kal Bhairav, Boudhnath Stupa, Swyambhunath Stupa and the Balaju water gardens. Since the Nepal visa was available on arrival in Kathmandu International Airport and from seven other overland entry points of Nepal, he stresses that similarly Sri Lanka tourist visa was equally easy to obtain which was possible through a couple of clicks on the Government official website.

He also adds that the launching of direct flights between Kathmandu Airport and Colombo, would strengthen the relationship and industry of both nations. While energetically welcoming Sri Lankan tourists, Rabin Sharma promises to recommend Nepali tour operators and travellers to enjoy the beach and adventures of Sri Lanka.
