Ashok Leyland recognised for its contribution to economy during
three decades of hardships

In a unique event, Sri Lanka appreciated Investors and overseas
partners and recognised “Lanka Ashok Leyland”, who supported the
National Economy, took great risks and challenges to continue to be in
Sri Lanka, supported the people of Sri Lanka and move the economy
forward during the three decades of hardship the country went through
due to terrorism with a “Global Commerce Excellence Awards 2012”.
The award presented to Lanka Ashok Leyland at a gala ceremony at
Kignsbury Hotel by The Governor of Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabral,
Dhammika Perera Secretary, Ministry of Transport, M. Fernando Director
General, BOI, other Government officials and Koshi Mathai, IMF Resident
representative. Ashok Leyland and Lanka Ashok Leyland was represented by
Umesh Gautam CEO Lanka Ashok Leyland.
Lanka Ashok Leyland is a joint venture company of Ashok Leyland
Limited India in collaboration with Government of Sri Lanka under
Ministry of Industries and Commerce was established in the year 1983 to
progressively assemble Ashok Leyland heavy commercial vehicles in the
Island by using more andmore local value additions and providing
employment to over 400 local workforce.
Since 1983 despite of hardships and difficult times Lanka Ashok
Leyland continues to move Sri Lankan economy forward by providing most
reliable, economical and environment friendly transport solutions for
the overall benefit of the Economy which will lead Sri Lanka further on
move. |
