The former Intercontinental Hotel, opened its doors as The Kingsbury,
having undergone a major refurbishment, backed by the Haleys Group of
Companies, the country's most diversified conglomerate. President
Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday, opened the The Kingsbury, the most modern
luxurious hotel in the heart of the Colombo city, delivering a high
level of hospitality and services that would delight the discerning
traveller.
Hayleys have invested over US$18 million in the refurbishing of the
The Kingsbury, led by its Chief Executive Officer Otto Stohl, a seasoned
hotel industry professional, with over 25 years of experience in leading
hotel chains, such as the Ritz Carlton and the Rennaissance. Hayleys,
the parent group of the The Kingbury, had invested extensively in
training its staff in the preparation of delivering the highest quality
standards in terms of services.
The Hotel has also invested in bringing in international expertise,
by recruiting experienced professionals for key positions.. Situated at
the end of the Galle Face green, the hotel is a true testimony of the
bygone era of grace and charm in all its aspects, including
architecture, interior decor and personalized services.
With the first phase of the refurbishment being completed, the guests
could experience the regal splendor of their ball rooms, The Balmoral,
The Victorian and The Winchester. Three restaurants namely, the Yue
Chuan (Chinese), Fisherman's Wharf (Sea food) and the The Ocean (world
cuisine) would cater to the wide section of travellers.
The hotel features over 225 elegantly furnished rooms with an array
of facilities to ensure the comfort of the guests.. Equipped with
state-of-the-art facilities, the hotel's spaces are ideal for meetings
and other social functions.
