Attempt to smuggle in marijuana foiled
An individual who attempted to smuggle in a stock of marijuana (Kerala
Ganja) weighing nearly two kilograms was arrested at the KIA by the
Customs Narcotic Division sleuths.
Customs Narcotic Division Superintendent, Nihal Alahapperuma said
that the stock was valued at nearly Rs.262,000. The arrested suspect has
been identified as a resident of Wattala and had arrived on a flight
from Chennai, he said.
It was also revealed that the suspect was a frequent traveler between
Chennai and Colombo.
The arrest was made by officers MI Razik and Dhanushka Wijesuriya.
Further investigations are being conducted by Customs officials, DDSC
Michael, Chandana Gamage, Udaya Gamini, Thikak Wijesuriya and Prabuddha
Perera and K R Senevirathna.
