Watagoda (5 for 6) bowls Kandy District to victory

St Sylvester's College right arm off spinner L I Watagoda in a deadly
spell took 5 for 6 to guide Kandy District to an easy six wicket victory
over Nuwara Eliya District in their Prima Inter-District under 15
cricket tournament match at the Open Prison grounds, Pallekelle on
Saturday.
Watagoda bowling his off spinners to a tidy length had the bowling
analysis of 10-5-6-5 which gives some indication to the extent he had
the batsmen in trouble. He was supported by skipper and off spinner
Tharindu Liyanage who took 3 for 9 to dismiss the opponents for 54 in
37.3 overs.
A notable feature was four of the Nuwara Eliya batsmen scored ducks
as the total slumped from 40 for 2. 47 for 9 - losing 7 wickets for 5
runs only opener J Bimsara entered double figures in making 18 and the
next highest scorer was extras with 16.
Kandy District in reply hit off the runs required for victory in just
10.2 overs. They were at one stage 11 for 3 in an indecent haste put
themselves in trouble.
