President to receive National Health Plan

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena will hand over the Five Year
National Health Plan to President Mahinda Rajapaksa today which marks
the second day of the National Health Week, a Health Ministry spokesman
said.

dedication along with Health Ministry officials on the first
day of the National Health Week yesterday. |
According to the spokesman Minister Sirisena made a special request
from all health staff to work with dedication to protect the high
quality of Sri Lanka's free health service.
This is the first time the ministry launched a five year plan from
2013 to 2018.
The plan was formulated in consultation with the public, scholars and
professionals. The Health Ministry declares a Health Week in December
every year aiming at controlling the increase of diseases with the on
set of the rainy season.
Another objective of the National Health Week is encouraging all
health staff at the end of the year and the beginning of a new year
while raising awareness in the public on health related issues. Health
Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayatilleke, Director General of Health
Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala and many other Ministry officials were
present at the launching ceremony.
