A shramadana campaign was held to renovate the damaged portion of the
wall near the Lion’s Paw at the entrance to the Sigiriya Rock with the
participation of Land and Land Development Minister Janaka Bandara
Tennakoon on Sunday.
The minister urged all Sigiriya visitors to contribute to the
Sigiriya renovation project by carrying at least a brick when they climb
the rock. The wall was damaged after being struck by lightning on
October 23 collapsing an area of about 10 feet.
The shramadana was organized by Central Provincial Councillor
Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon with the assistance of provincial
politicians, members of the Dambulla Graduates, Association and youth
organizations.
