Aranayaka overlooked
P. A. Meegahamulahena - Aranayake special
correspondent
Aranayake has been overlooked in the midst of national development
programmes like, Divineguma, Gamaneguma, Maganeguma and a host of other
programmes of development.
This becomes quite clear when you look at the Aranayaka District
hospital, town and the roads in the area in comparison to the
development that had taken peace in other areas in adjoining districts –
one of the oldest main roads, built by the British to connect-Aranayaka-Gevilipitiya
Debathgoma – Hettimulla and Kegalle is in a dilapidated condition that
it is only suitable for bullock carts.
The Aranayaka District hospital which should be the pride of
Aranayaka is today in a sorry state, unable to provide the Moderu
medical facilities to the public.
Patients are directed to nearby private medical laboratories even for
blood and urine testing.
