National Health Week begins today

The National Health Week organised by the Health Ministry will
commence today on the direction of Health Minister Maithiripala Sirisena.
Today to December 17 has been declared ‘National Health Week-2012’.
“We planned this National Health Week to obtain the assistance of the
health service workforce which comprises over 100,000 employees of
different categories to develop the country’s health sector,” Health
Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
Seven days of the National Health Week have been divided in to seven
categories. Today is Public Service Coordination Day, December 11
Cleaning Day, December 12 Awareness Day, December 13 Investigation Day,
December 14 Prevention Day, December 15 Appreciation Day, December 16
Religious Day and December 17 Commemoration Day.
The Health Ministry will pay special to create public awareness on
Non Communicable Diseases and mosquito eradication during this year’s
National Health Week.
Ministers, deputy ministers, Provincial Council members and
Pradeshiya Sabha chairmen are to visit government hospitals in their
areas today to inspect activities of hospitals and solve issues at ww
hospitals.
Meanwhile, a Health Ministry spokesman said the five year National
Health Plan of Sri Lanka will be presented to President Mahinda
Rajapaksa twomorrow. |
