Freudenberg Leisure has committed a further investment of over Rs 100
million on its Nuwara Eliya and Colombo properties, said Rohan M
Rodrigo, Freudenberg Leisure Group Chief Accountant. He said the company
is contemplation setting up a hotel in the Deep South with special
emphasis on Hambantota. A feasibility study has already been done for
this purpose. It would be the company's fourth venture he added.
Freudenberg Leisure had earlier invested over Rs 350 million on its
flagship Randholee Luxury Resort with the addition of the new wing. The
hotel commenced business in 2007 and broke even a year and half later,
said Priantha Fernando, Consultant Freudenberg Leisure. “By 2009 the
hotel managed to reach a decent occupancy level and that really gave the
impedance to focus more on tourism related activity and to extend.”
Randholee Luxury Resort also received a TripAdvisor(r) Certificate of
Excellence award in May 2012. The hotel also opened its new recreational
wing with state-of-the-art facilities including a fully equipped gym, a
kiddies play area, a badminton court, a shopping arcade, a juice bar and
a ariyanna spa of international repute. Fernando said the latest
addition to its chain is 'The Firs' Nuwara Eliya with an investment of
Rs 40 million, which is a one- of- the- kind luxury experience. This
heritage bungalow would consist of two super luxury suites exuding world
old charm and elegance and three beautifully furnished deluxe rooms. The
game rooms include chess, billiards, darts and other games.
“The third that is scheduled to come up in three months time is a
boutique type development in Colombo at Shady Grove Avenue which is a
approximately Rs 75 million, seven room boutique luxury. It will consist
of a pool and a large deck area, which altogether would be a new
concept,” he said. |
