Finance Deputy Minister Sarath Amunugama yesterday said that the
Central Bank has bought a storey of a building in New York for its
future operations. He made this observation in Parliament in response to
a question raised by UNP MP Eran Wickramaratne during the oral question
sessions.
The Deputy Minister said the storey of the building in America was
bought at US$ 5 million in August 30 last year. It has an area of 12,000
square feet. The space has been rented out to the Foreign Ministry for
five years at a rate of US$ 68,000.
