Infant strangled to death after delivery

Welikanda Police are investigating the death of a new born infant strangled to death and buried shortly after delivery.

Police investigations revealed that the 24 - year - old mother whose husband is employed abroad, had carried the delivery on her own at her home in Kudapokunagama, Welikanda on November 4 and killed the infant and buried her in the compound.

The woman arrested on Friday is receiving treatment at Polonnaruwa Hospital.
