Heshan bags karate gold

Heshan Chamindu Marasinghe from Anuradhapura won the Gold Medal in the under-10 age category at the all island ShotoKan Kata Karate National Championship recently. The 37th version of the championship was held from November 6 to 9 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Colombo.

Heshan, a grade five student of St.Joseph's College Anuradhapura has excelled in many national level events since 2006. In 2006, he participated in the karate tournament held in Galle and won the Gold medal in the under six Kata event. After that he won the first place in the North Central Province Karate, Kata and Kumite events.

His karate career has been greatly supported by his parents M.M.Shantha Premaratne and K.M.G.G.Thamara Kumarihami Kulasekara with the guidance of Sensei Chaminda Niroshana. Heshan expects to give out his best in future national and international events and bring glory to his motherland.
