Fertilizers for Kurunegala District

Steps are being taken to provide fertilizers to paddy farmers in the Kurunegala District for the present Maha season. Farmers who own paddy lands will be entitled to fertilizer subsidies during the forthcoming season, according to the Kurunegala District fertilizer coordinating officer Harischandra Gamaaratchchi.

According to the statistics of the NWP Provincial Council Agriculture Ministry, 12,460 hectares of paddy lands are cultivated under major irrigation schemes and 35,184 hectares under minor irrigation schemes. 28,179 hectares of paddy lands are cultivated by rain water.
