Suspended imprisonment for extortion

All accused of the Panadura Henamulla Rs one million extortion case, pleaded guilty to charges before Panadura Provincial High Court Judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardena.

Each of the four accused was sentenced to two years' imprisonment suspended for 10 years.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd accused were fined Rs 5,000. The 4th accused was ordered to pay Rs 4,000 as state cost as he was a government servant.

Each accused was also ordered to pay Rs 75,000 as compensation to the complainant.
