Medical clinic to mark World Diabetic Day

The Indigenous Medicine Ministry has organized a medical clinic to mark World Diabetic Day which falls today. The medical clinic will be held at the Colombo Public Library today at 8am.

It will be held under the patronage of Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa and Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda Dissanayake The medical clinic will be held under the theme 'Lets eliminate diabetic from Sri Lanka by participating, acknowledging and understanding'. The programme will consist of awareness programmes, blood and eye tests and medical clinics.


Kandy Girls High School prize day

The 133rd annual prize giving of Kandy Girls High School will be held at the college hall today at 8.30am.Education Ministry Secretary Gothabaya Jayaratne will be the Chief Guest.


Lecture

Senior Professor of Forensic Medicine and Sociology Prof Ravindra Fernando will deliver a lecture on "Medico- Legal aspects of Torture in Sri Lanka" at 6 pm today at the OPA Auditorium, Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 7.


Free seed paddy distribution

The distribution of free seed paddy among farmers in the Anuradhapura district whose paddy lands were destroyed due the severe drought in the Yala season has commenced under the patronage of Chief Minister S M Ranjith Samarakoon.

A stock of 84,000 bushels seed paddy value at Rs 109 million will be distributed among nearly 42,000 farmers under this. Nearly, 40,360 hectares of paddy land in the district were completely destroyed and 13,475 hectares partially destroyed during the recent drought.
