Fish, eggs, milk from Mahaweli Zones

Around 4,727 MT of fisheries products were issued to the market from the Mahaweli Zones during the first seven months of this year, an Irrigation and Water Management Ministry spokesman said.

Meanwhile, 2.5 million eggs and 11.9 litres of milk were issued to the market during this period, he said.

The spokesman said the Irrigation and Water Management Ministry had taken steps to enhance the living standards of people in Mahaweli Zones by establishing and developing the ornamental fish and fresh water fisheries industry.

The ministry has also taken measures to provide loan facilities for small scale and medium scale enterprises, he said.
