National Health Week in December

The Health Ministry has planned a National Health Week to be held
from December 10 to 16 under the guidance of Health Minister Maitripala
Sirisena.
This is the second National Health Week to be held in Sri Lanka.
The first one was held from September 3 to 9, 2011. The National
Health Week aims at coordinating every sector in the country to
cooperate to development the health sector.
Special attention of this year's National Health Week create public
awareness on Non Communicable Diseases and Mosquito eradication as well.
Provincial and Health Directors, Medical Officers of Health (MOH) and
Directors of Government Hospitals will conduct several awareness
programmes and clinics to make the public aware of Non Communicable
Diseases, including, Diabetes, Heart Attacks, Cholesterol and Cancers.
Programmes to clean all the hospitals in the island and awareness
programmes will be held during the National Health Week.
The Ministry will also conduct dengue eradication programmes during
National Health Week.
