The My Wish Birthday Trolley organized by the My Wish Foundation for the terminally ill children at the Pediatric Wards of the Cancer Institute has become an event that the children and their caretakers now look forward to with much eagerness.

Feeding a piece of cake to Lakmini

On August 11, little Sakindu of Ward 16 who is suffering from brain tumor celebrated his sixth birthday. The 'Birthday Trolley' for this occasion was sponsored by Hilton Colombo and was filled with a wonderful array of tasty food which the children, their parents and all those at Ward 16 enjoyed alike.

The feature of this day was the presence of one of their Goodwill Ambassadors who is also a well known and famous personality among teenagers - Saranga Disasekera. Saranga leaving his busy schedule aside had an equally wonderful day spending his time with Sakindu and his little mates and their caretakers, making them forget for a moment the pain and suffering they go through and replacing it with happiness and memories to carry with them for the rest of their days.

For the past four years little Lakmini Dissanayake of Ward 16 had never known what it was to have a party on her birthday but she did so on her fifth birthday which was celebrated on October 9. It was a real joy to watch little Lakmini's face light up when she saw the 'Birthday Trolley' filled with her birthday cake and many delicious items which was sponsored by Taj Samudra Hotel.

The happiness was doubled with the appearance of their special guest that evening and who is also one of their Goodwill Ambassodors Deepika Priyadarshani Peiris.

Lakmini and the children at Ward 16 after savouring all the goodies joined Deepika in a sing-a-long and ended the evening on a very memorable note.
