UNP penalizes MPs over Fonseka rally

The UNP Working Committee yesterday decided to suspend memberships of MPs who attended a recent rally organised by Sarath Fonseka. This was despite objections by Sajith Premadasa and Ranjith Maddumabandara.

The MPs are Palitha Range Bandara, Palitha Thewarapperuma and Asoka Abesinghe. Two provincial council members Maithri Gunaratne and Shiral Laktilake were also suspended from the party.
