Rains fill Northern tanks

The Northern region has been experiencing stormy weather since Sunday.The tanks which were dried up due to drought are almost filled to the brim.

The evacuation of people due to the Mini cyclone warning in the Jaffna and Mulativu coastal areas was carried out with the assistance of the Security Forces. The people had heeded the warnings issued by the Disaster Management Centre and the Meteorology Department immediately.

The Divisional Secretariat Divisions, Security Forces and Police were put in place to assist the people during any disaster situation.There was a marked reduction in the number of students present in schools, even though public offices and schools functioned as usual after the long weekend.
