One injured in rock blast

One person died and another was injured and admitted to the Vavuniya hospital after being struck by rock projectiles flying from a rock blast carried out in a 20 foot deep quarry in Poonewa Medawachchiya.

The deceased was identified as Subramaniam Krishnakumara, 34, of Anthomalwatta, Hatton. He had been employed in the quarry for the last 10 years. Medawachchiya Police are investigating.
