President Rajapaksa meets Sri Lankan Business Council in Dubai
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on a state visit to attend the World
Energy Forum in Dubai was invited for a banquet organized by the Sri
Lankan Consulate General in Dubai & Northern Emirates to meet the senior
members of the Sri Lankan Community living in the United Arab Emirates.

Rajapaksa in Dubai. A plaque of appreciation and gift was
handed over by their Chairman, Farook Kassim, on behalf of
their Board of Directors during this dinner reception hosted
by the the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in UAE and the Consul
General of Sri Lanka in Dubai. The event was held at the
Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai recently. |
At this occasion, the board of Directors of the Sri Lankan Business
Council in Dubai & Northern Emirates on behalf of its membership
presented an appreciation plaque along with a gift to appreciate the
valuable contribution of the President to the expatriate Sri Lankan
Business Community.
The Sri Lankan Business Council in Dubai was formed in September 1991
and evolved into a registered Business Council under the auspices of the
Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004.
Its membership consists of Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and senior
professionals in the UAE as its Individual Members of Sri Lankan origin
coming together to encourage the development of Sri Lankan and related
businesses in the UAE and promotion of Sri Lanka as a Business
Investment destination. The SLBC board consist of Chairman, Farook
Kassim, Vice Chairman Gamini Kannangera, Director of Membership, Mohamed
Giado, Director of Events, Devanand Mahadeva, Director of Finance,
Kosala Dileepa Udumalagala, Directors of External Relations, Ainsley
Michael Foster and Mario Senevirathne.
The Ex-Officio Directors are Consular General, M.M. Abdul Raheem,
Minister Tea Promotion at the Consulate Ranjith Kumara Abeykoon and
SriLankan Airlines Manager, Sudath Kuruppu.
