Burgan Geoffrey of Kenya won the Colombo Marathon organized by Lanka
Sportsreizen, held recently at Negombo in two hours 26 minutes and 40
seconds.
Ajith Bandara who represented Sri Lanka Army ended second in two
hours and 28 minutes.Kiprop John Samoi of Kenya secured the third place
concluding the marathon in two hours 36 minutes and 45 seconds.
W.A.S.Chandrapala became the winner of the half marathon in
Weligampitiya Junction when he finished the game in one hour 11 minutes
and 43 seconds.A.R.S.Kumara became the second( one hour , 13 minutes and
29 seconds) while K.Nishan Maduranga finished third in an hour 14
minutes and 32 seconds.
Ruwini Deepani of Sri Lanka Air Force won the women's marathon
recording a timing of two hours, 55 minutes and 47
seconds.B.V.Thishanthani of Sri Lanka Air Force finished second in three
hours,four minutes and 52 seconds while H.M.Harshamali Gunaratne from
Bakamuna ended third in three hours 11 minutes and 15 seconds The winner
of the Women's Half Marathon event was W.A.D.Mallika Chandrakanthi of
Sri Lanka Police( one hour, 31 minutes and 36 seconds)W.A.Samya
Udayakanthi from Anuradhapura became runners-up and P.M.I.Sarojani
became third. H.W.N.Kumari won the first place of the Women's 10 Kilo
metre event. Shyamali Yaparatne secured second place while
D.M.D.Sandarenu secured third place. |
