Sampath Bank rewards year five Scholarship students
Eleven students who received the highest marks at the Year five
Scholarship examination this year were recognized by Sampath Bank
recently with cash awards and valuable gifts. In addition, the two first
ranked students were awarded scholarships until the GCE Advanced Level
examination. An additional monthly allowance from October will be
provided which would help them meet their educational expenses .

The ceremony was the culmination of the annual programme of the
Sampath Bank organizing educational seminars for Year five scholarship
students. Between the month June and August, seminars were held in a
number of towns including Haliela, Pelmadulla, Deniyaya, Kegalle,
Pannala and Katugastota.
The Senior Manager, Marketing Upul N. Bandara, highlighted the
importance of a sound education and said that it is Sampath Bank's
responsibility to see that the young generation is well educated to take
the country to the next level.
Addressing the ceremony, Sampath Bank Managing Director, Aravinda
Perera emphasized the significance of having a solid foundation from the
early stages of education that could take the students to greater
heights in life and their respective careers. Expressing his own work
experience, he pointed out that he did not have to rely on influence or
any relationship to come to the present position in his career. Solid
education, perseverance, sheer hard work and commitment were
instrumental in elevating him to where he is today.
He wished the award winners a bright future and advised them to
become educated and well disciplined humble citizens of Mother Lanka.
Thanking Sampath Bank for organizing the ceremony, Dr. Anoma
Weerasinghe , ICU, Mahamodara Hospital, Galle , the proud mother of the
Island's number one student, Kisara S. Kodithuwakku from Richmond
College, Galle said that they were grateful to Sampath Bank for
organizing a ceremony like this and recognizing the achievements of all
high flyers. "It is indeed a great encouragement and motivation for them
to excel in other examinations in future", she said.
