Mobitel, which has maintained a long-term relationship with the
Department of Immigration and Emigration and has extended its support to
the government’s ICT development programme by providing the Department
with the necessary technology to commence the Electronic Travel
Authorization (ETA) system, has once again shown its steadfast support
by opening this state-of-the-art service center.
As the country experiences an increase in migrant workers and those
travelling abroad, the Department of Immigration and Emigration is a
hotspot of activity with over 6,000 people coming through it daily. The
waiting area has been made more comfortable for them, via a contribution
made by Mobitel.
The presence of this service center at the Department of Immigration
and Emigration, will not only benefit visitors to the Department, but
will benefit businesses located in and around the area.
The service center will be a valuable addition to the cafés, travel
agencies and other businesses that are located in close proximity.
The public will have an easy access point, where they can make bill
payments, get SIM replacements and new connections and even buy devices
such as mobile phones, dongles, headsets, etc. that would be offered
through Mobitel. Furthermore, this center will be a counter where train
tickets will be issued through Mobitel’s mTicket platform.
Speaking at the event, Lalith De Silva, CEO of Mobitel said, “We at
Mobitel are proud to be partnering with the Department of Immigration
and Emigration once again.
We have always been committed towards the development of the public
sector, by providing the latest ICT tools to enhance their efficiency
and productivity which in turn, improves their service to the general
public.
This is yet another project that stands testament to this. Mobitel
has been a steadfast, prominent operator servicing the entire island and
this rapid expansion is further enhanced by opening these service
centers in order to further extend our services offering to people
hailing from different parts of the country.
"We feel that partnering with the Department of Immigration and
Emigration will be the best way to increase our exposure outside of Sri
Lanka, whilst also strongly supporting the Government’s development
strategies, especially those concerning the ICT industry.” |
