Sri Lanka Schools under 19 World Cup tour discard and Cambrian
skipper and Opener Kusal Mendis is in fine form and hit up a whirlwind
102 runs which is his second consecutive century included fourteen fours
and one six and occupied the crease for 170 minutes and face 120 balls
and associated an opening stand of 153 runs with Suchira Fernando who
scored 70 runs which consisted eleven fours and one six enabled Prince
of Wales College to register a first innings lead of 151 runs with two
wickets intact against more fancied S.Thomas’ College Mt.Lavinia in
their under 19 cricket match worked off at Tyronne Fernando Stadium,
Moratuwa.
Thomians taking the first lease were skittled out for a paltry 118
runs in 30.5 overs with some resisitance coming off the bats of Skipper
Madushan Ravichadrakumar 30 and Yannish Caption(33).Jayanga Peiris and
Shanuka Dulaj captured four for 39 and three for seven respectively.
When bad light stopped play at 4.45pm on day one Cambrians were 269 for
eight with Madushan Ravichandrakumar claiming five for 94 and Nipuna
Gamage three for eight.
