Techno-2012

Showing the way forward to 'Miracle of Asia'

The Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) will be holding its' flagship event, the much-awaited National Engineering and Technology Exhibition, Techno - 2012, from October 12 to 14 at the BMICH, for the 27 consecutive year.

The best exhibition of this nature to be held in Sri Lanka, this event has become a platform for strengthening ties between the government and private sector organizations and the engineering community, displaying innovations from around the world that are employed to make the day-to-day lives of the people easier and richer and forging of new trade alliances.

An engineering and technical exhibition of this kind is very important at this juncture as the country is on the fast track to development under President Mahinda Rajapaksa's 'Mahinda Chinthana - Vision for the future' policy statement fast becoming the 'Miracle of Asia.'

Several mega development projects are underway in Sri Lanka at present including the Mattala Airport, the highway system under the 'Maga Neguma' programme, and bridge and overhead bridge construction. All these projects require the highest technology. People in technically oriented employment in these projects will be able to witness at first hand the world's highest technology employed in similar projects and adopt them to Sri Lankan conditions.

Since its' inauguration in 1985, with each passing year, this exhibition has brought forth the latest in technologies, products, skills and best practices from the world over to its' target audience. The Techno Exhibition maintains strict quality standards allowing only the technically oriented organizations to have stalls.

Other than serving as a platform to showcase and promote brand names, products and services, the Techno Exhibition is equipped with features such as B2B meetings to utilizing stakeholder skills and talents to provide the most excellent windows of opportunity for new as well as seasoned entrepreneurs and organizers under one roof.

The state-of-the-art, informative and diversified technical stalls numbering over 200, has won appreciations and accolades from the engineering fraternity and has also earned national and international recognition and a reputation as one of the best in its' kind in the SAARC Region, if not Asia.

Being associated with Techno has become an addition to the prestige of an organization and has given it a permanent following of entrepreneurs and organizations wishing to bask in the glory of Techno. Due to the many special features that are added to the exhibition, the year-by-year number of visitors to Techno is witnessing a tremendous increase. One of the most popular features, the 'Engineering Clinic' organized by the Civil Engineering Sectional Committee of the IESL last year to address the genuine engineering issues of the public will be continued this year also.

The country is witnessing an unprecedented number of proposed and ongoing mega infrastructural and other development projects engendered by the 'Mahinda Chinthana - Vision for the future' policy statement of President Mahinda Rajapaksa inclusive of the development in the newly liberated North and East of Sri Lanka and the Metro Colombo Development Project will be displayed at Techno Exhibition and visitors given a realistic picture of the country's development.
