Gurukula hit back

Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya after conceding a first innings win to Moratu Vidyalaya bounced back in their second essay at their inter-school under 19 cricket match worked off at Moratuwa.

Gurukula taking the first lease were all out for a paltry 124 runs and Vidyalaians replied with 166 with skipper Ishan Nilaksha unbeaten with 72 runs and Thila Kaviska making 42 runs. In their second essay visitors declared at 233 for 9 with Kasun Maduskanka 71 and skipper Nalin Perera unbeaten on 66 wile Harsha Devinda captured 5 for 67.

Set to make 182 runs for an outright victory and at the close Vidyalaians were struggling at 114 for 9 with Namal Pathum bagging 5 for 24.

Chief Scores: Gurukula - 124 Hashan Dumindu 29, Shanka Roshan 3/27, Harsha Devinda 3/49, Rasindu Fernando 2/13 and 233/9 dec - Kasun Madushanka 71, Nalin Perera 66 n/o, Hashan Dumindu 24, Rsohan Anuruddha 22, Shanka Perera 2/47, Harsha Devinda 5/67.
