APFASL to improve financial management practices
The Institute of Public Finance and Development Accountancy (IPFDA)
has joined hands with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri
Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and established an Association of Public Finance
Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL) as a Public Sector Wing of CA Sri
Lanka to enhance the professional skills and expertise of the Public
Sector Accountants, Auditors and Assessors to improve financial
management practices in Sri Lanka.
Members of the Sri Lanka Accountants Service, Superintendents of
Audit of Class II Grade II or above of the Sri Lanka Audit Service,
Assessors Class II Grade II or above of the Inland Revenue Service with
two years work experience in the respective services are eligible to
obtain the membership of the APFASL.
The Accountants in Statutory Boards and Public Corporations would be
considered after reviewing their entry qualifications and schemes of
recruitments on a case by case basis.
CA Sri Lanka has already signed an agreement with the World Bank and
the government for strengthening four specific activities of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, a component of which is
strengthening Public Sector Financial management through capacity
building.
An MoU has already been signed with the Chartered Institute of Public
Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) London and discussions are being held
with them to conduct professional level examinations to award CPFA
(Chartered Public Finance Accountant) qualification jointly by the CA
Sri Lanka and CIPFA London.
Hence, this is a golden opportunity for the public sector
accountants, auditors, assessors and others eligible to get membership
and raise their professional status.
Application forms and the articles of Constitution could be
