Mannar incident:

CID asked to file further report

Panadura chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake hearing the case against Minister Risad Bathiudeen yesterday directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducting investigation into the Mannar Magistrate’s Court Incident to file further report on November 4.

Earlier President’s Counsel MM Zuhair, Senior Defence Counsel for the minister, in his lengthy submissions said that his client had not threatened the complainant. It is possible for the Attorney General to decide in which court and against whom he will indict or file plaint against the accused, the President’s Counsel submitted.

CID Inspector Roshan Masimbula earlier filed a further report with the summary of the statements of witnesses recorded in connection with the incident at the Mannar Magistrate’s Court.
