Two IUSF students died of head injuries - Police Media Spokesman

The deaths of the two Inter University Student Council (IUSF) members were due to head injuries after an accident the postmortem revealed, Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said yesterday. “It is pathetic that some groups are spreading rumours about the death of these two innocent students,” the Police Media Spokesman said.

He said the two undergraduates of the Ruhuna and Kelaniya universities, Hewapathiranalage Priyankara Silva (24) and Jude Bandara Ekanayake (22) died on the spot at Embulgoda junction while they were traveling along the Colombo - Kandy on a motorcycle.

The postmortem was conducted by Judicial Medical Officer S.P.M.Hewage on the order of the Gampaha Magistrate.

According to the postmortem, the two students sustained severe head injuries as a result of the accident.

The Police Media Spokesman requested people not to spread baseless rumours about this accident.
