Arrested for not paying compensation

Kapila Somaratne, Panadura Group Corr.

Panadura Magistrate R. S. A. Dissanayaka, issued warrants for the arrest of the owners of a garment factory in Panadura, who had not paid compensations to their employees as ordered by the Panadura Labour Tribunal.

They had been evading court and the Panadura Asst. Commissioner of Labour had filed action before Panadura Magistrate's Court for violating the order issued to them by the Labour Tribunal.

The magistrate postponed the case for October 20.
