Court warns police for producing women without proper reason

Panadura magistrate R. S. A. Dissanayaka, warned the Police not to arrest women walking on the road unnecessarily and produce them before court.

The magistrate stated so when the Panadura Police Child and Women's Bureau OIC produced a woman, a mother of four children before court on September 20 unnecessarily.

According to the Police, the children of the woman had been handed over to a Children's Home and she had come to see one of the children at the Panadura Prajapathi Children's Home and had been waiting close to the home.

The Probation Officer complained to the police Women's Bureau.

She was arrested and produced before court. She had not committed a punishable offense, but had been standing near the Children's Home.

The magistrate discharged the woman.
