Mannar incident suspects further remanded

Panadura Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake, specially assigned to hear the Mannar Magistrates Court incident, on Monday further remanded the 43 suspects who had been remanded earlier in connection with the alleged attack on the Mannar Magistrates Court premises and damaging the court premises.

The magistrate ordered the suspects to be remanded till October 4.

At the commencement of the proceedings the magistrate observed that the Criminal Investigation Department is conducting a marvelous investigations in connection with the incident.

On an application by Senior Attorney Anura Madegoda who appeared for the suspects the magistrate directed the inquiry in connection with the bail applications will be taken up on the next date, October 4.

Earlier the Magistrate allowed an application by CID Inspector Roshan Masimbulla to produce several productions recovered from the Mannar and Vavuniya Police areas in connection with the attack on the Mannar court premises. During the proceedings tight police security premivail in and aroiund the Court premises.

Senior Attorney Anura Medagoda with Attorneys Ghazali Hussain, Shiraz Noordeen, N M Saheed and Mishmi Godellawatta appeared for the suspects.
