Victory, an answer to Human Rights groups, racists - PM
Prime Minister D M Jayaratne in a press release commenting on the
resounding victory secured by the UPFA said he was proud to mention that
the victory has given a clear answer to both the International Human
Rights lobby and racial extremists. The victory has abundantly proved
that Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities in these three provinces are
firmly with the UPFA government and they have kept their utmost
confidence in the government’s theme ‘let’s proceed as one nation ‘where
everybody can live in a harmonious country sharing equal opportunities,
the Prime Minister said.
“This also proved that they have accepted the giant development
projects being initiated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in these areas,”
he said. The Premier said the election was free and fair the same as how
the UPFA government conducted all its previous elections .
This was crystal clear with the people’s choice bestowed on the
government in this election too, he said.
The Premier urged the public and UPFA supporters to be tolerant and
enjoy the victory with equanimity. He requested them against making this
mammoth victory a cause for physical or mental oppression to anyone.
“Everybody who works against the country, in particular,
international forces and political and extremist elements should pay
heed to this victory and be mindful not to take any steps without
identifying where the people’s verdict has been reposed,” he said. |
