Under-18 all island rugby in Nawalapitiya

S.M. Jiffrey Abdeen- Kandy Sports Correspondent

The annual all-island schools under-16 division two rugby tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association and sponsored by Milo will be worked off at the Jayatilleke Sports Complex at Nawalapitiya today and tomorrow will play commencing at 8 a.m. each day. Around 30 schools in 6 age groups are expected to participate in this tournament which will see some of the lesser known schools from the provinces in action.

This will be also the first time an island schools rugby tournament will be worked off at the newly developed Jayatilleke Sports Complex at Nawalapitiya though this venue has seen top club rugby being played here. The organisers both the SLRFA and the sponsors Nestle Lanka Limited should be complimented for shifting the venue to the plantation town of Nawalapitiya but they should also endeavour to complete the tournament on schedule as public transport is scarce in that area after dusk.

The weather too has been wet these days.
