Singapore trounce Hong Kong

Singapore beat Hong Kong 53-27 to reach the 8th Asian Netball
Championship final at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday. Hong
Kong couldn’t pose a threat towards Singapore due to lack of experience
and less usage of techniques. Singapore took the maximum out of their
rivals’ weaknesses and ended the match in favour of Singapore.
Kristle Edwards netted 22 goals and Emma Gregory netted five for Hong
Kong.
For Singapore, Yu Mei Ling scored 36 goals, Chen Hujfen five and
Cassendra Soh 11 goals.
Meanwhile a fine display of quality netball was visible when India
trounced Maldives 41-40 India led the first quarter with 17 goals to
nine and in the second, Maldives reduced a deficit with adding 10 goals
to their score (19), while India was 26.
In the third quarter, both sides seemed to be very competitive.
Maldives came storming back, reducing their gap of the scores. In the
10th minute of the third quarter, it was 30 all.
And in the end of the third quarter, it was 32 all but the Maldivians
couldn’t maintain the momentum in the last few minutes of the match.
The match of ended in favour of India making it 41- 40. |
