Dead fish not linked to oil slick

The National Aquatic Research Agency (NARA) said there is no connection between the deaths of fish in the seas off Wellawatte and the oil spill from the ship which sank off Panadura.

The NARA recently commenced scientific tests on the reported deaths of fish in the seas off Wellawatte, NARA chairman Dr SJ Samarasundara said.


Many earth tremors predicted

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau announced that small scale earth tremors could be experienced in various parts of the country in the coming months.

Geological Survey and Mines Bureau chairman Professor N P Wijeyananda said investigations have been launched into the earth tremor at Maduru Oya National Park recently.
